EU Structural Funds

Administration of the EU Structural Funds at the Ministry of Culture. Programming Period 2014-2020.

The Ministry of Culture is one of the Responsible Authorities of the EU Structural Funds administration in Latvia for the Programming Period 2014-2020. Ministry participates in the administration and supervision of projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The functions of the Responsible Authority for the administration of the EU structural funds within the Ministry of Culture are carried out by the Financial Instruments Development Division and the Division of the EU Structural Funds Supervision of the EU Funds Department.

During the Programming Period 2014-2020 the Ministry of Culture ensures administration of two specific objectives (SO):

The total amount of the ERDF co-financing available to the SO administered by the Ministry of Culture is EUR 115 000 000.

Investments will be aimed at preserving, protecting and developing the currently underutilized cultural and natural heritage sites and facilities throughout Latvia, making them more attractive and accessible to local residents and tourists, as well as expanding their content and creating new services to promote their qualitative use. In turn, revitalising Riga's degraded objects and territories will develop new urban areas, promote economic and social activity and prevent further degradation.
