Nice Touch — Eva Abduļina

Eva Abduļina, who has been better known as a graphic and type designer, now brings the nuances of typography to life in spatial design. She works at the design studio Gateris Works, which aims to transform Latvian aesthetics into objects that are used in everyday life. Two Gateris Works projects have just been nominated for the National Design Award of Latvia 2024. In the Nice Touch section, Eva talks about one of her favourite everyday things.

Choppy balance bike receives iF Design Award

Latvian producer Stum’s wooden balance bike for children, Choppy, has just won a gold award at the international design competition iF Design Award. The jury appreciated both the Choppy’s aesthetics and its sustainable design. Not only is the balance bike made from responsibly sourced timber, but it is also durable and easily adaptable for a growing child. Furthermore, the Choppy’s compact packaging is made to be played with.

Developer Greengo (Invego) has launched an open international idea competition for the development of a residential neighbourhood in Šmerlis, Riga. The aim of the competition is to find the best urban and architectural concept for the site, which will form the basis for the future design process.
